APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: | 5'3" | HAIR COLOR: | Black (dyed) |
BUILD: | Compact | EYE COLOR: | Brown |
Lillian is a short girl with a cute face. Her dimpled cheeks and button nose are dusted with freckles, and she worries that people won’t take her seriously because of it. Not that she doesn’t want people to think she’s cute, she just also wants them to think she’s a badass. It’s difficult, okay?
Lee likes black, but she also likes pastels. She likes pyramid studs and skeletons, but she also likes flowers and unicorns. She likes to wear dresses and skirts but hates the impracticality, so she often wears shorts underneath. She likes to wear cute fitted clothes, but she also likes baggy, comfortable t-shirts and pants. She likes to wear makeup, but resents the implication that she needs it. Which extreme her appearance swings toward depends on the day, her mood, the activities she has planned, and how close to being late she is.
She has more than a dozen piercings - eyebrow, septum, nostril, tongue, and four in each ear - but she doesn’t generally wear them all at the same time.
In uniform, Lee follows the rules exactly, even if she always tends to look just a little frayed at the edges. Her shirt was tucked in, but it came undone a while ago without her noticing. Her shirt has a hole she repaired herself. She’s more likely to straighten someone else’s tie than her own.
PB: Brianna Hildebrand
PERSONALITY
LIKES: Black. Pastels. Studs. Leather. Floral prints. Unicorns. Skulls. Cute animals. Scary animals. Feeding people. Fixing things. Reese's Cups. Surfing. Handmade gifts, both given and received.
DISLIKES: Cold weather. Neon colors. Throwing away perfectly good stuff. Being told to mind her own business. Being allergic to peanuts. Being late. When she doesn't wear makeup and people ask her if she' sick. Very artificial smelling perfumes and colognes. Spicy food. Cluttered rooms.
Most people wouldn’t expect someone who looks like Lillian to sound so chipper, but she has the bright, encouraging voice of a kindergarten teacher. It’s not uncommon for people to wonder if she’s being sarcastic and condescending, considering the piercings and the pyramid studs, but she’s not. Right? Right.
While she is endlessly encouraging, Lee is also endlessly cynical. Try your best! But also, we’re probably all going to die! It’s sort of an, “Expect the worst, prepare for the worst, possibly be pleasantly surprised but probably not,” kind of way to live. She’s sort of like one of those pop songs that sounds really upbeat, but as soon as you listen to the lyrics, you realize they’re actually pretty dark.
Lee is a big believer in justice and doing the right thing. When she found out that the world was in danger and she was one of the few who could do something about it, she didn’t hesitate for a second to sign that contract. How could she live with herself otherwise? She feels like everyone ought to help the helpless if they’re able, and sometimes forgets that other people don’t share her moral code. She always wants everything to be fair. Sometimes, she gets way too obsessed with it, in fact. She will spend way too long making sure everyone’s slices of pie are EXACTLY equal. She doesn’t care that no one else cares if the person beside them got a centimeter more, it’s the principle.
Lee would say she doesn’t enjoy gossip. At worst, that’s a lie; at best, it’s a skewed truth. She doesn’t enjoy gossip for gossip’s sake, and she doesn’t like the idea of passing it on, because she thinks it’s mean. That likely doesn’t change the fact that she does have a reputation as a nosy busybody, though. She does absolutely soak up information about people. It’s only so she can help them, honest! Whenever she gets wind of a friend having a problem, Lee is the first one to stick her nose in it. Whether or not they want her help, of course, is entirely beside the point. She is usually convinced that she knows better than anyone else how to solve things, and is quick to jump to conclusions without knowing the whole story behind things. Many times, Lee goes farther to hinder the resolution of arguments than help them.
No matter the time of day, Lee is seemingly always busy. She’s always punctual, but simultaneously always almost late. There’s no such thing as getting anywhere early, but you could set your clock by her arrivals. She feels the constant need to be productive, and gets antsy without work to do. She abhors laziness and procrastination, and can’t abide it in herself or her team. She isn’t above nagging her friends to finish their homework.
TLDR; Encouraging. Energetic. Kind. Just. Overzealous. Nosy. Busybody. Judgemental.
SKILLS
★★★☆ Cooking: Lee loves to feed her friends. Her food always tastes pretty good, too! It’s just… hideous. It always looks like it should be captioned, “Nailed it!” But if you’re brave enough to try it, you’ll be rewarded, though.
★★☆☆ Spanish: She can get by in conversation, and she did well enough at writing to get a good grade in the class, but she is by no means totally fluent.
★★★★ Repairs: Lee hates buying new things, and would rather fix the old until it absolutely can’t be fixed anymore. Lee has followed her grandfather around enough to know her way around tools, and he made sure that she can take things apart and put them together again and they still work. Whether it’s a sink or a torn pair of pants, she can often poke around and fix things around the house, or at least jury rig it to keep it limping along.
★★★★ Sewing: Lee enjoys arts and crafts, but she likes sewing best of all. She likes sewing from scratch, and repairing garments for herself and her friends, but her favorite is finding ugly, dowdy, oversized stuff from thrift stores and revamping it into something cute.
HISTORY
FAMILY:
Grandfather: “Pops” Frank Armstrong. Appliance repairman.
Pops is a gruff man full of stories about the “good old days.” Lee is pretty sure she takes care of him as much as he takes care of her, and leaving him to go to school in Maine is her biggest source of guilt.
Grandmother: "Gamma" Carol Armstrong. Deceased.
Before she died a few years ago, Lee was very close to her grandmother. She ran a bakery specializing in selling to tourists, and she treated everyone she met like an old friend.
Mother: Alison Armstrong. Cashier.
Allison comes and goes like a storm: not infrequently, but unpredictably, and often leaving a mess in her wake. Still, Lee can’t bear to cut her out of her life.
Father: Jesse Irizarry. Dentist.
Jesse lives in Georgia. Lee sees him sometimes, mostly around holidays, but they aren’t particularly close.
Sister: Caroline Armstrong. Deceased.
Caroline died when the girls were children from anaphylactic shock after eating peanut butter candy.
HOMETOWN: Cocoa Beach, Florida
Allison Armstrong went into labor on It’s a Small World at Disney World. The ride was broken down, and she thought it was just Braxton Higgs contractions again, the perfect thing to add to an already shitty day. Pregnant at 16, she could go to Disney with her friends, but she couldn’t ride much, and the one thing that she could ride trapped her in pain amongst the most annoying music ever. Great. They were not, however, false contractions, and her already shitty day got that much shittier when she delivered twin girls Lillian and Caroline at Disney. At least she got to be on the news.
When they were six, Allison left the girls unattended to run errands. The first thing the girls did was break into the candy jar and start scarfing down sweets. They split a Butterfinger bar between them. Both girls had a peanut allergy, but Caroline’s was much worse, and she went into anaphylactic shock. By the time Allison got home, Caroline was dead, and though she called an ambulance, there was nothing they could do. After that, Lillian went to live with her grandmother and grandfather. She’s still not sure if her mom got in trouble, or if she thought it was better for her, or if she just didn’t want her anymore. It’s not really the type of thing she was ever able to ask Pops and Gamma. Still, though it was a lot to deal with at such a young age, losing her sister and basically her mother too, Pops and Gamma were caring and attentive, and never let Lillian feel anything but wanted and loved. They definitely felt more like her parents than her biological parents ever had.
From her first day in school, Lee was a busybody and a teacher’s pet, and she gained a reputation for sticking her nose in other people’s business. She did well, not through natural academic talent, but through sheer tenacity. From elementary school through high school, that didn’t change. It would be fair to say she was ambitious, though her ambition never seemed to have much direction. There was no need to be the best or to brag, she just seemed to want to accomplish things for accomplishment sake.
Then, in 2015, Gamma was diagnosed with lung cancer. She died just inside of eleven months later. It wasn’t fair, she had never even smoked. Lee was sullen and angry, and suddenly didn’t care about school or her classmates anymore. Her teachers were sympathetic, but there was only so much slack they could cut her. She wasn’t failing, but her grades weren’t good. Everything felt hollow and meaningless.
It was around this time that she heard about this weird new school in Maine. What did she have to lose, when there wasn’t much keeping her there? She passed the entrance exams and made the trip to discover what the school was really about. Lee was shocked, of course, but quickly agreed and signed her contract. If the world was in danger, and she was one of the special few with the power to save it, she was obligated to try.
COMBAT
ACADEMICS
CORE CLASSES: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Training
ELECTIVE CLASSES: Philosophy, Leadership, Art
CLUBS: Student Council, Gaming, Community Outreach, Gardening
GENERAL PERFORMANCE: Lee does well in classes. She isn't the most academically gifted student, but she is a try hard. She isn't competitive about it; she wants to do well in classes, and she wants to see her classmates do well too, so it's not uncommon for her to nag friends and squad mates about homework.

Squad Position: Leader
Primary Weapon: Harpoon gun
Combat Style: Lillian doesn’t take naturally to fighting, but she is big on causes and even bigger on protecting people, whether they’re innocent bystanders or her own team members. She will run herself absolutely ragged, and fight to the edge of consciousness.
She isn’t the fastest or the strongest, and her weapon allows for fighting from a distance and reeling enemies in closer when need be. She knows she isn’t best as a close range fighter, but will absolutely take the heat for her team. She’s well aware that she’s probably going to get herself killed, but even if she’s pretty sure of the worst possible outcome, she has no end of encouragements for her squad.
Attribute: Balance
Persona Name: Jeliel
Persona Appearance: Jeliel has an androgynous humanoid shape from the waist up and a piscine shape from the waist down, but just because they cut a somewhat mermaid-like silhouette doesn’t mean they look anything like Ariel. Jeliel’s eyes have the pale, unseeing sheen of something that has lived in the dark so long it has lost its sight. They don’t often open their mouth, but when they do, they reveal rows of thin, wicked teeth. Jeliel’s body is semi translucent, and the bones can be seen beneath, particularly in the eerie light of their bioluminescence that lines their body and wreaths their head. When they attack, the lights brighten and crackle with electricity, throwing their skeleton into stark relief.
